What is baptism?
Baptism is the Christian act of immersing a believer under water and then bringing him or her forth out of the water. It is a practical representation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as the person being baptized is plunged beneath the waters and brought forth in the same way that Jesus was buried in the earth and resurrected on their behalf in forgiveness of their sins. Baptism publicly identifies a Christian with Jesus, the greater church, and the local church.
Who should be baptized?
The New Testament consistently demonstrates that those being baptized are people who have repented of sin and put their trust in Jesus. John the Baptizer called people to repentance before being baptized. Baptism is reserved solely for those who trust in Christ alone for salvation, who show a personal identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.
May I be baptized if I have previously been baptized?
Once someone has been baptized there is no need for him to be baptized again. The only exception to this is if someone was baptized as a non-Christian and desires to profess his faith and be baptized as a Christian. This exception would include people who were baptized in cults and heretical churches, as well as those baptized as infants at the request of their parents. The Revolution does not require that those who were baptized as children be re-baptized as believing adults. We leave that decision to the conscience of each Christian. Should you make a decision to be baptized again, we will baptize you.
Can children be baptized?
It is not uncommon for very young children to be baptized at The Revolution, providing there is evidence that they are Christians by their profession and demonstration of faith. The Revolution does not baptize anyone (including infants) unless there is evidence that they are Christians.
Can I baptize my child or children or wife?
Yes, a husband can baptize his wife and a father can baptize his kids. A single mom can baptize her kids. The exact details can be coordinated immediately prior to the baptism. (Persons seeking to conduct their family members baptism will be allowed to do so following the completion of all other baptisms.)
How can I get baptized?
Baptism takes place every 2nd or 4th Sunday at The Revolution. All candidates will need to attend a Saturday morning class entitled "What It Means To Be Baptized". For those who are interested, we ask that you please be prepared to give a video testimony as an introduction and keepsake of this monumental moment! If you know you'd like to be baptized, please help us plan by signing up in advance and registering at www.revolutioncm.com/baptism. Before you are baptized ministers and volunteers will be on hand to meet and pray with you.
What about my clothes?
We will have a change of clothes for everyone who gets baptized on Resurrection Sunday or you can bring your own (see online baptism book for specific items to bring). You can change before you step into the water in the private changing rooms that will be set up for our baptismal candidates.
